About Us
Don P. Imel - President

Don’s experience in property management covers the past 28
years, in various capacities.  For 15 of those years, Don was the
Vice President of Finance at one of the largest and most
reputable management companies in Southern California.  While
at Alpha, Don was in charge of all the financial operations which
included handling all insurance for their properties.  He was also
in charge of their banking relationships and was actively involved
in obtaining financing and re-financing for many of the company’s
properties, including HUD properties which comprised nearly two
thirds of their clientele.  Simultaneously, Don was Vice President
of the corporation’s parent company.

Prior to that, Don worked at various CPA firms after completing
college and has had a side business of preparing income tax
returns and doing bookkeeping since then.  This experience
coupled with his above referenced financial-related real estate
management background, has provided him a great deal of
experience in the accounting field, and an edge over most
property managers, as most do not have both types of experience.

In 1997, Don retired from the large firm and started his own
company, Management Associates, Inc. which currently manages
all types of residential and commercial properties including
conventional apartment buildings & duplexes, HUD buildings,
professional buildings, and shopping centers spanning across the
Los Angeles area.   MAI also handles the accounting for 14
additional HUD properties.  Don is the Controller for Santa Fe
Associates, Inc., the company which manages those properties
located mostly in Northern California, in addition to several out of
state including Wyoming and Louisiana.
